- On a sunset catamaran cruise — the best atmosphere of all. Out on the water as the sun drops over the caldera, no crowds. Hard to beat for a proposal.

September is a local favourite for couples — warm but not scorching, the sea at its warmest, long romantic evenings, and the island lively without the peak-August crush. May, June and early October are lovely too. Whenever you come, book the special things (sunset cruise, dinners, photographer) well ahead — they fill up.

Do Oia in the morning for photos without the crowds. Book a caldera-view dinner ahead (Oia and Imerovigli are magical at sunset). And pre-book your transfer so your arrival is smooth — you don't want to start a romantic trip stuck in a taxi queue.
